Some companies see IT as a necessary productivity tool but choose to focus their resources on their core competencies and outsource the IT function to another party - such as Cambridge.
Other companies go further and outsource even end-user functions (now called Strategic Global Outsourcing), which they believe are more mundane or do not add to their core competencies. Claims processing, payroll and benefits administration are examples of these functions.
The outsourcing of such functions has been prevalent for more than 50 years, but the trend has now caught the attention of the mainstream on account of some of these functions being outsourced to offshore locations as opposed to off-site, onshore centers.
Cambridge has a comprehensive offering to help firms that wish to completely outsource their IT functions as well as entire 'business processes'. It does the latter with one of its sister firms, called Cambridge.
Cambridge's IT Outsourcing and Strategic Global Outsourcing/ITES Service offerings are:
- Complete or Partial IT Outsourcing
- Establishing and Running Dedicated Competency Centers
- Various ‘Build, Operate and Transfer’ Models
- Comprehensive Strategic Global Outsourcing Services
- Call Center Support
